MATELICA AND GAGLIOLE
The village of Matelica is 3 km far from the agriturismo. In its lovely city centre you can visit the Piersanti Museum, hosted in the XVI century palace formerly used as the residence of the Piersanti dynasty, an important family who had, in XVIII century, a relevant role in the Vatican State. In the museum you will find some of the original furniture and objects owned by the Piersantis, and an ancient sun clock named Globo of Matelica. Right in front of the museum, there is the entrance to the Civic Theathre entitled to Piermarini, who designed the Matelica theathre and the famous theatre in Milan Alla Scala; in the theathre foyer you can taste a glass of the famous DOC white wine Verdicchio di Matelica, the most relevant local product. A few meters far you can visit the Church containing the mortal remains of the Beata Mattia, who lived in Matelica during the XIII century and considered, from a religious and spiritual perspective, as a protector of the village.
If you desire additional information about the events which will take place in Matelica, please visit the section Events.
Leaving Matelica, with a few minutes car driving, you can reach the very small medieval village of Gagliole to visit the Natural History Museum, which contains several fossils and minerals, gathered throughout the years by the museum Owners. Please note that the Museum opening is on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays in the afternoon from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
